Harold Link

Harold Link, Artist & Sculptor

Since early childhood in his native Germany, he showed
a marked interest in painting & music. His painting years
where set aside because of professional obligations.

A talented musician playing various instruments, with
trumpet being his major. He has played in symphonies
for many years, and was leader of his own bands for
the last 50+ years. From 1948 - 1955 his studies in music,
mechanical engineering and tool & dye making
kept him busy, which left no time for his love of visual art.

Later from 1956 until 1958 his artistic passion rose again
as he studied ornamental blacksmithing. With degree
in hand he immigrated to the United States in September
1958, where he worked for decorators, architects and known
national and international artists in Palm Beach, Florida.
In 1965 he starting his own business in metal and design.

While on a trip thru the Northeast Georgia Mountains,
he discovered Helen. Falling in love with the area which
reminded him so much of his German roots, he decided to
settle in Helen, Georgia where he started a German
restaurant which he ran for over two decades.

Following his retirement, he resumed his painting and
sculpting which he still enjoys to date. His art form
celebrates an exciting form that challenges us to
redefine art in our lives. Creating a work that will be
deeply inspiring.

An absent-minded glimpse would make us believe in an
abstraction, but the theme is always there, visible.
The pure fresh colors, the bouquet of light, clearly well
defined however, just as his palette knife caresses
canvas, which radiates and suggests more than it shows.

His works can be found in public and private collections,
with showings in Germany, England, Italy and more recently
the Quinlan Art Center

Residing now in Dawsonville, Georgia, he intends to spend
most of his time doing what he truly loves, painting with his
two granddaughters, riding motorcycles, singing with his
multi-lingual Conjure bird "Pepe", hiking with his 3 dogs,
or just sitting on his front porch with his 4 cats sipping tea

His world of art is often one of a happy reflection on
relaxation and his personal "joie de vivre".
